PHOENIX (August 14, 2014) – Childhelp®, the nation’s oldest and largest non-governmental nonprofit advocating for abused and neglected children, has partnered with 6Connex to create a new virtual campus for its comprehensive child abuse and bullying prevention education program, Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe®.
To make this program more accessible to educators, Childhelp is launching a new virtual campus that will offer everything from the curriculum, to facilitator training, continuing education opportunities and guest speaker lectures. This new platform will launch August 14th and will be available for all current Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe facilitators. Those interested in learning more about the program and potentially purchasing for a class or school system, will also be able to tour the campus and learn more about the program.
This cutting-edge project is being fueled by the 6Connex Virtual Destination Platform. The Virtual Destination Platform enables organizations and individuals to connect, learn and engage anytime and anywhere within an interactive online virtual environment that can be utilized for training, onboarding, internal meetings and more.
The original Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe program was built in partnership with a team of researchers at Arizona State University, who developed a comprehensive, research based, culturally and developmentally appropriate child abuse prevention program for grades one through six. In early 2014, Origami Owl®, the national social selling company specializing in customized jewelry, donated funds for the expansion of the Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe curriculum to include pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The extended program is in development in conjunction with Northcentral University and will be available in early 2015.
Thanks to Origami Owl’s generous donation, Childhelp Speak Up Be Safe is currently being offered at no charge to over 100,000 students nationwide in an effort to implement a large-scale adoption of the program nationwide. Currently, the program is taught in 29 states, impacting over 600,000 children nationwide. Schools interested in learning more about the curriculum can visit www.speakupbesafe.org.
